Grounded in Community Work

I currently work as a Senior Case Manager at Gurriny Yealamucka Health Service, the only health service in Yarrabah, an Aboriginal community just outside of Cairns.

At Gurriny, I lead the Youth Mental Health Program as part of the Youth Wellbeing (SWEB) Service, offering holistic, culturally-informed support.

I created Youth Yarns and Fishing Yarns — two culturally safe, youth-led programs that support mental health through connection, storytelling, and time on Country.

When designing these programs, I worked closely with community to listen, gather ideas, and make sure the approach truly reflected what our young people needed.

With support from Gurriny, I also successfully applied for funding to help grow the initiative.

Through this work, I provide both counselling and case management, supporting young people with complex needs while keeping culture and relationship at the centre.

Counselling for Mob, by Mob

My name is Zhaun Bradfield Lee Hong. I’m a First Nations counsellor and I have connection to Darrba (Hopevale) and Butchulla (K’gari) people. I am still on my cultural identity journey, reconnecting the dots. Wishing to connect and build strong bonds with others.

I walk with story, culture, and respect — and I offer counselling that holds space for truth-telling, healing, and strength.

This is a space to reconnect with who you are, to be heard, supported, and empowered. Sitting together, side by side, and honouring your experiences — wherever you’re at, and wherever you’re going.

How I Work

My counselling is:

  • Client-led – you set the pace, and I walk alongside you

  • Culturally safe – grounded in listening, respect, and identity

  • Story-centred – healing through truth-telling, narrative, and yarning

  • Strength-based – your experiences hold value and wisdom

  • Trauma-informed – understanding how trauma shapes emotions, thinking, and connection

  • Neurodivergent-affirming – I bring lived experience with ADHD, dyslexia, and autism

  • Accessible – delivered through Telehealth for mob across QLD and NSW, or privately across Australia

What We Can Work Through

Anything you decide, you are the story teller, and I am the voice that helps you to decide left or right when there is a fork in the road.

  1. Anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm

  2. Sorry Business and/or grief

  3. Racism, identity, and cultural disconnection

  4. AOD (alcohol and other drugs) support

  5. Anger, relationships, and healing from violence

  6. Feeling stuck, isolated, or unheard

  7. Support with letters for NDIS, housing, legal matters, or Centrelink
