Frequently Asked Questions
-
What can I talk about in counselling?
Anything that matters to you — from anxiety, trauma, or grief, to navigating stress, relationships, identity, or big life decisions. You don’t need to have it all figured out. We work through it together.Do I need a referral to see you?
No referral is needed. You can book directly with me online. How many sessions will I need?
That depends on your goals and needs. Some people come for a few sessions, others attend ongoing. We’ll discuss what works best for you. -
How do Telehealth sessions work?
Sessions are held via secure video or phone. You’ll receive a link by email — just click to join from your phone, tablet, or computer.Do I need special software?
Nope! Just a device with internet and a quiet space. I’ll take care of the rest.Is Telehealth as effective as in-person counselling?
Yes — many clients find it just as effective and more flexible. Telehealth allows you to talk from your own space and can feel more comfortable for some people. -
Do you see NDIS clients?
Yes. I support self-managed and plan-managed participants under the Improved Daily Living category. Can you provide reports or support letters?
Yes, I can write letters for NDIS reviews, support needs, housing, or other services. Just let me know during your session. Are you registered with the NDIA?
Not at this stage. That means I can’t see agency-managed participants, but I can work with self-managed and plan-managed clients Australia-wide. -
Do you offer culturally safe counselling?
Yes. I’m a deadly Darrba (Hopevale) and Butchulla (K’gari) man, and my approach is grounded in cultural respect, story, and connection. I am still on my cultural identity journey, and I can share with you what I have done. I offer space to yarn, reflect, and heal in your own way.Can I talk about judgements, identity, or community issues?
Absolutely. These experiences are real, and this is a space where you’ll be heard without judgement. Can you support young mob too?
Yes — I work with adults and young people, including youth navigating identity, emotions, AOD, grief, or disconnection. -

Private counselling gives you more freedom, flexibility, and privacy — without needing to go through the medical system.
Here’s why many people choose to go private:
No referral needed – You don’t have to visit a GP, get a diagnosis, or wait for a Mental Health Care Plan. You can book directly, when you're ready.
You’re in control – You choose your counsellor and your pace. There are no session limits or medical hoops to jump through.
No diagnosis required – If you’re neurodivergent (like ADHD, dyslexia, or autism), processing grief, trauma, or life stress, you may not meet Medicare’s “criteria” — but that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve support.
More privacy – Medicare-funded sessions are recorded in your medical file. Private counselling stays between you and your therapist unless there’s a safety concern.
No session caps – Medicare only covers up to 10 sessions per year. With private therapy, we’re not limited by numbers — we work together for as long as you need.
Private counselling is about your story, not the system.
It’s a space where you set the goals, and we walk the journey together.
